I’ll share with you the moment I really knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, what I’m doing now, and the man who changed my life teaching me how to do what we are doing now in Columbus Ohio

Circa 1998 Gregg Sorritono’s (names (misspelled) water street gym in Syracuse NY. I was in school, living with my grandparents there and looking for a place to train and Fight.
I saw his gym driving downtown, this before smart phones and online searching.

So I parked my Z24, and approached his gym. It was a keyless entree so I waited by the door until someone came out. 20 minutes or so a guy came out and I grabbed the door and asked up the old stairs to a 2nd floor beautiful gym.

As I walked in I heard a low, gruff, deep voice yell, who the hell are you.
That was Greg the owner. He was older, a former pro fighter who fought Michael Dokes, Reynaldo Snipes, and a host of other named heavyweights, was to fight George Foreman on his comeback but the fight was nixed, he had a rough looking face, scars of the ring, his eyes were sharp, with his voice, slow.

I told him about myself, I was an amateur fighter from Ohio looking for a gym and he told me to come into his office.
We talked and he gave me names of gyms to check out and told me I couldn’t train there because it was a private personally training gym.
He said I could stay and watch and he had a partner there then, last name Christidula, he fought Oscar De La Hoya in the US Nationals and lost a very close split dec, his bronze medal was hanging in the gym. I remember staring at it and all the amazing boxing pics and memorabilia in that gym

Then asked what people paid to train there and he said $50 per hour. I said what!?! To teach them to box.
Gregg said yeah why?

I just couldn’t believe getting paid that well to teach someone boxing.

I stayed for awhile and he introduced me to a few people and he started to warm up to me, I can be very charming and have always befriended rough rough guys very well.
He gave me a name of a trainer who changed my life.
Ray Rinaldi.

Ray was working with then WWF wrestler Marc Merro and his former wife and playboy playmate of the month Sable on some skits for some WEF shows and wasn’t in town then, Gregg says he travels a lot.

So I waited till Ray was back in town.

And the rest of the story is for another day as it’s rather long and detailed

Our current gym is designed after Ray’s NAAC gym.

Keep your eyes opened. You never know who can change your direction in life
